My name is Malia & I am originally a language nerd. After years of study, I became fluent in Mandarin Chinese. I reasoned that if my brain could learn Chinese, it could certainly learn how to sew! It has been a few years now, & I am as happy as a clam running all aspects of Lady Konnyaku.

I have found that stylish, Japanese street clothing is only available in mini-tiny sizes & is of marginal quality-- in Mandarin, we say "Bu Hao", which means "not good"! My mission is to make eye-catching, well-fitting, solid-quality clothing available to ladies who not only wear size S, but also M, L and XL.

There is also something to be said about super cool vintage fabric. I love a unique print or use of color! I design my patterns to maximize the preservation of worthy finds, as many are found only once & in small yardages. The majority of my designs are one of a kind for this reason.

I make all of my patterns from scratch...I sew every stitch...cut every yard of fabric...

"Lady Konnyaku employs tidy design lines, well-proportioned cuts of fabric, & high quality sewing techniques that result in a stylish garment with proper fit & function. You will find an assortment of one-of-a-kind Japanese Street fashion-inspired clothing that uses a mix of brand new, vintage & reclaimed knit & woven fabrics & findings."
